What is T6 Heat Treatment
T6 heat treatment is a heat treatment process used for the state of artificial aging after solution treatment of aluminum alloy.
Aluminum alloy in this state has high strength and hardness, as well as good plasticity, toughness and corrosion resistance.
T6 treated aluminum alloy is usually used to manufacture parts that require high strength, such as parts in the fields of automobiles, aircraft, aerospace, etc.
The process steps of T6 heat treatment include:
Solution treatment: heating the aluminum alloy to a certain temperature (usually between 500-600 degrees Celsius) and maintaining it for a certain time to change the phase in the alloy.
Quenching: rapid cooling to form a more stable phase in the alloy, thereby improving strength and hardness.
Aging treatment: maintaining a certain temperature for a period of time to further stabilize the phase in the alloy and improve mechanical properties.
Compared with other heat treatment states, the internal stress of the T6 state is larger and deformation is prone to occur during processing. The T651 state is a stretching treatment based on T6, which can effectively eliminate internal stress and is suitable for automotive parts that require high-precision processing.
