Difference Between Microhardness and Vickers Hardness
1. Different test force: This is the main difference between microhardness and Vickers hardness. The test force of microhardness is usually small, up to 2kg. The test force of Vickers hardness is large, up to 50kg (some Vickers hardness testers in the early days can even reach 120kg).
2. Different application scope: When the workpiece has a hardened layer depth test requirement, microhardness testers are more often used. When a larger load can be used, a large-load Vickers hardness tester should be selected.
The main difference between the two hardness test methods lies in the way of applying force and the representation of the test results. Microhardness testing is suitable for various materials and can provide more accurate hardness value measurements.
Vickers hardness testing is a traditional hardness test method that is widely used in the industrial field. The test results are expressed in Vickers hardness values and are often used to compare the relative hardness of different materials.
It should be noted that different types of hardness test methods are suitable for different materials and application scenarios. The selection of a suitable hardness test method should be determined according to specific needs and requirements.
